Our Pastor
Rev. Thomas C. Van Hemert
Rev. Thomas C. Van Hemert became Pastor of St. John Lutheran Church in June, 2020. He is a native of Muscatine, Iowa. He earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Iowa in 2015. He also earned a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana in May, 2020. Pastor Van Hemert met his wife, Elizabeth, at the University of Iowa and to date, they have two children. In addition to serving as pastor of St. John Lutheran Church, Pastor Van Hemert also serves as chairman of the Iowa District East Worship Committee as well as managing editor of Theological Journal for the Church, Iowa District East’s theological journal.
