Our Pastor
Rev. Christopher M. Boyd was ordained into the Office of the Holy Ministry at St Jacob Lutheran Church, Miamisburg, OH on August 2, 2020, following his vicarage from St John Lutheran Church, Montpelier, OH.
Pastor Boyd’s education includes a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Arts in Religion, and a minor in Military Science from Capital University, and a Master of Divinity from the North American Lutheran Seminary.
Pastor Boyd is not originally from the LCMS. He grew up ELCA, was ordained in the NALC, and was a pastor for over 4 years before he joined the LCMS Ministerium. For the last part and 2024 and the most of 2025, Pastor Boyd has been serving as a supply preacher for the northern regions of Ohio, primarily at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elmore, OH.
Pastor Boyd’s professional interests include church history, music, and the Book of Concord. He is an avid reader and book collector who enjoys reading politics and fantasy for fun. Pastor also continues to study mathematics on his own and is particularly interested in the topics of logic and geometry. Pastor is a lover of music ranging from classical to rock, to official sound tracks and folk music. He enjoys a good scotch or stout, which he confesses are meant to be respected and enjoyed.
Pastor Boyd has served in the military for 12 years, concluding his service as an officer in the Chaplain Corp. He has also served as a fireman, EMR, and chaplain to the Catawba Island Volunteer Fire Department. Various other roles he has conducted include: assistant scout master, choir director, district executive council to the NALC, and soccer referee.
On September 26, 2025, Pastor Boyd officially accepted the Divine Call to St John Lutheran Church, Center Point, IA. His installment occurred on November 2nd with a service officiated by Rev. Dr. Brian Saunders, President of Iowa District East of the LCMS.
